J'approve of pretty much every movie involving food. And love. And movies with scenes of Brittany Murphy dancing by herself in a beautiful apartment. This is a perfect movie to cuddle up to watch on a lazy Saturday afternoon.

On Wednesday night, Chelsea and I made a deal to do a photoshoot at five o'clock the following afternoon, and sure enough, I was waiting at 4:59 with coffee on Santa Rita's porch. Chel-bell wore this outfit that day, and was the sun ever shining! She looks like a flower.

This here gent seems to always be well turned out. I told him I'd be stealing his bag...he told me to return his scarf. And shirt...

I'm thinking a clandestine trip to raid his closet might be necessary: I've got my eye not only on the bag, but the blazer...and the pea coat... and a certain cardigan I know he's been hiding. If I were Frankie, I'm fairly certain I'd give the lovely Santa Rita girls my clothes, so as to avoid the sudden realization that my entire wardrobe has disappeared.*

Art Teacher Chic

Juana Alicia Montoya, a dancer, muralist, and a teacher at Berkeley City College, has amazing style. As her student, I get to experience it at least twice a week in my painting class. I feel honored to be given the chance to learn from this astounding woman, who prior to becoming a teacher was active in Cesar Chavez's united farmworker's movement in the late sixties and seventies, and has been painting large-scale murals for most of her adult life. She rocks.
